www.IMDB.com says: In an age before computer generated effects Sherlock Jr's out of control ride on the handlebars of a motorcycle is astonishing. It is a sequence that could never be duplicated in the modern era. Buster plays a theater projectionist with dreams of becoming a master sleuth. When he loses his girl...

Subject: Genius
Keaton was a genius, and equal to Chaplin in many ways, yet still stands alone. The scene when he leaps through the window and comes out fully dressed as a woman makes this whole movie, as no trick photography whatsoever was used.

Subject: What a gem!
A simple yet interesting plot with perfect music to move the plot along. Not as much slapstick as in many of Keaton's, but a few great gags (including one trick of jumping through a hoop in a window into a change of clothes and a timely exploding billard ball). The dream sequence is a lovely touch as is the "tutoring" from the movie house film at the end (exquisite framing of the scene and editing to convey the point).

Subject: Great Version of a Great Movie
Whoo, hoo! This is a quality copy of Sherlock, Jr., and even the 256kbps download version looks pretty sharp. Comes with the excellent Club Foot Orchestra score, one of the best ever recorded. This is Buster's shortest feature, but one of the most hilarious movies ever made. BTW, Buster actually broke his neck during the shot with the train and the water tower when the gushing water threw him against one of the rails. He didn't know about his broken neck until years later when a doctor asked him about it...

Subject: For those who like Buster
It is a really good film. Though it starts quite slowly the film is getting better and better. The stunts are absolutly great. Buster is at his best!
I like the funny ideas with film in the film and how he deals with it.
Especially the end is with a twinkle in the eyes.
------
The quality of the film is good and the music is not annyoing, yet sometimes - the car chase - it is really good. At that scene it reminds me on a lot of films I have seen and their special music.
Enjoy
