"There Is Only So Much Opera One Can Take at a Time" is the first post-SPH single released by Shorthand Phonetics. Unlike previous releases Ababil Ashari takes over every aspect of this release from the music to the artwork with no help from anyone at all. Although the title of the single was snatched from a song title contest on the band's Myspace site that Ben from the wizard rock band "Bella's Love" won.
The single contains two songs:
1. "There Is Only So Much Opera One Can Take at a Time" and 2. "As A Matter of Fact, Violet, I'm Feeling Too Apathetic to Care About Getting Over You Right Now"
The A-side ("Opera") was inspired by the Korean graphic novel "Kiss Me, Kill Me" with obvious references peppered in the song. This song also contains an homage to R.E.M's "Automatic for the People", a fact apparent when the listener listens to the bridge of a chorus.
The B-side "Violet" was a Fanfiction outtake that didn't make it to Shorthand Phonetics' first album "Fanfiction: From the Seriously Absurd to the Seriously Absurd" as it was superseeded by the similarly sounding song "Natalies for Glasses (When You Go About Things With an Adamant Sense of Inferiority"
