Thomas Parkmystified - South City Spring [treetrunk013] (January 16, 2006)

Mystified's acquisition of a recording device has ushered in a new era for the band. Rather than mixing pre-created sounds or sounds created by other artists, mystified has embarked on the delicious task of making his own sounds from scratch-- or, rather, harvesting them from his surroundings, in phonographic style.

Using this new device and a cheap microphone (soon to be replaced), mystified has captured through sound collage and direct recording the experience of apartment life in South City Saint Louis. See if you don't agree!

Subject: document of life
While this can be said about many releases I've heard lately, the popularity of phongraphic releases says a lot about our natural human curiosity, in that even the most normal and mundane of sounds and photographs of places different from where the listener/observer resides opens a window into awareness of other facets and modes of life, imforming about how different or even how much the same the experience of existence is. This release contributes to that very well! would love to see videos or stills of the places the sounds were recorded.

Subject: a rich inner soundscape
indulges us in the magic that is everyday sound. Take a moment to find the beauty in the normal sounds that everyday surround us. Another triumph for Tree Trunk!
