Subject: Getlist Update
Thanx for the upload. Nice recording except when it gets loud there is a bit of a crackling sound. Both discs on 2 different sound systems reproduced this result. The Spankers are in fine form. They actually started using mics in Spring '04.

Subject: slight correction
This show is f ing great, but that goes without saying when it comes to this band. The only consideration when considering downloading is sound quality. The band is always on and fantastic. Whoever listed the tracks missed one minor detail. The song "my favorite record" always goes into bits of of other songs all throughout the song. They change it up regularly. On this version they do It's a boy, Mrs. Walker by the Who, Foggy mountain breakdown by Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs, which then morphs hilariously into A banjo version of Eddy Van Halen's Eruption. Then back to my favorite record, then Zappa's cock suckers ball, then back to my favorite record. Songs 1 through 3 are basically one composition.

Subject: a shotgun ragtime band
great stuff & pretty funny taboot. The sound quality is nice, very listenable. Worth downloading if just for one dose.

Subject: wonderful show
All I have to say is that I downloaded this show several months ago and since then I've listened to it more often than any other CD I have. It is a wonderful show!

Subject: Decent audio quality -- rates more than 3 stars
I almost didn't download this, based on a previous review giving this 3 stars. I streamed it, though, and the audio quality (and performances) are just mighty-fine, so I went ahead and downloaded it. If you are a fan of the early Dead's jugband music (i.e., Mother McCree's Uptown Jug Champions) and similar old-timey music, this group is one you should check out. I've seen them in person in a very small venue here in Tucson and they were great. This recording captures the band's kind of goofy energy. If you're a fan of acoustic blues, early hillbilly country, western swing with a twist, ragtime, jug band and, well, just WEIRD music, give these folks from Texas a listen. Yeeehaw!

Subject: Fun 'old time sound'
The Asylum Street Spankers are an old time band that has some really fun sound. They traditionally didn't have any mics or amps at all .. their crowds got bigger and bigger and now, starting with this show, they finally have to have the instruments now mic'd and run through the board, but none are amplified. A fun old sound band, similar to the energetic, rougher sounds of the 1920s hot jazz with some crisp big band style of the 1940s. A fun live show, definately try and see them live if you can!

Yes indeed, the Spankers have given up their totally unplugged ways. It had to happen sooner or later with their crowds getting larger. None of the insturments are amplified but evertying is now mic'd and run through the board.

Notes: Fades added for each set. The audio dropped between set II and the encore probably due to a disc change in the writer. I cut out the silence and overlapped the audience noise to make for a seemless transition to the encore.
