Welcome Tapers. We love you - we need you - we encourage you to tape our shows and share them with the world. Music makes the world go round and the more people who know about our music, the faster we go round.

Live performances are for non-commercial home use only. Any resale or use of live concert tapes for commercial gain without explicit written permission from Spotus is strictly prohibited.

We support the taping community and will do everything possible to accommodate tapers and to ensure you get the best quality tape possible. We also want to thank you for documenting some of the best times of our lives and for sharing them with other music lovers.

On 1/10/06 we received the following email granting permission:

Hey there…
I would just like to give permission to all those who wish to upload, download, trade, and listen to any live Spotus material in any relation to the live music archive. We do not permit the sale, in any way, of our music, by anyone other than the band, management or approved outlets.

All original Spotus material is copyrighted to Kurt G. Wewer
I own all the copyrights to our music, which I write. I know that there are several tapers that would like to upload our music to this archive. I hope this email will speed up that process, because from what I have heard, this website is a wonderful place to spread live original music to the masses, other than, of course, our live shows.

We have a very liberal taping policy.

WE ALLOW TAPING WITH THE BAND’S PERMISSION BEFORE A NOTE IS PLAYED. NO SALE OF OUR MUSIC. TRADING, GIFTING, AND SPREADING THE MUSIC IS OF COURSE PERMITED, BUT NO MONIES IN ANY FORM MAY BE GIVEN, OR RECEIVED BY THE ORIGINAL TAPER, OR ANY GENERATION AFTER THE ORIGINAL RECORDING, ETC.

Thank you,
Kurt G. Wewer

Spotus Is:
Kurt G. Wewer: Guitar/Vocals
Justin Wolfe: Trumpet Vocals
Dave Gottwald: Trombone/Vocals
Jeremy Pierce: Bass
Jamie Smucker: Drums

Live Original Funk/Rock/Jazz/Jam Fusion Music
Spotus started in December of 2003 with 5 songs written by Kurt Wewer, with just guitar, bass, drums, and percussion. Over the last 3 years the band has evolved into the rock solid 5 piece it is today. Dropping the percussion has added clarity, and adding the horns has not only added the brass element that is the signature Spôtus sound, but has added 2 harmonizing vocals to complete the now fine tuned Spotus sound. Expect to see Spôtus bus to roll into your east coast town this summer. With a one month long east coast club tour planned for summer ‘06 we hope you’ll like what you hear, and come see us in a club near you!!
