On Mother’s Day, you are invited to stand for five minutes of silence from 1PM to 1:05 local time – in a nearby park, school yard, gathering place, or anywhere you life. As of May 1st, there were 47 nations and almost 12,000 people from around the world pledging to stand.
This initiative started with a lyrical and engaging small book written by Sharon Mehdi: The Great Silent Grandmother Gathering. The story is about two grandmothers who decide to standing silently in their local park as their way to help “save the world”. In a very short time, this book has become a global phenomenon.
In the East Bay, you can join The Millionth Circle Conveners at the Grand Avenue & El Embarcadero end of Lake Merritt. Or in San Francisco join The Women’s Intercultural Network at the Panhandle of Golden Gate Park between Ashbury and Clayton.
