Before PC software I used a mini disc to make loops.
Raised to appreciate great voices both British and American, recorded many films on mini disc and cut the best loopable sections for their rhythm measure and melody. then moved all the short cuts to random track numbers near the begining of the mini disc programme, then, sat back and listened to the new arrangement. The new order of the words created a new unexpected story; some of the accidental inuendo was strong but I kept the funny parts. A fun way to store loops and study voices. The older the movie or programme, the better and richer the voices on both sides of the Atlantic. I like to think I have preserved some of these excellent and individual voice melodies; they all sound the same today, for a musician that is a horrible thing to happen.
