When I first heard about this weirdo over at INR, I thought he was just another noise maker. After listening to a good majority of his work, I can tell you that this is far from the case.
Mike Patton once released an album called "Adult themes for voice" this is Josef Nadek's "Adult Themes for Feedback".
"To Infect and Persist Vol2." get through a great many variations on the noise scene before it really leaves the gate. The first few tracks explore samples of jacking off (apparently), screams of low frequency feedback and atonal scrapes, fuzz and distortion, masterful production work, and lofi piano fun. This is all explored within the first three songs however, and as "Jeffrey feat. Akoustik Timbre Frekuency" recounts Dahmer's obsession with animal entrails and violence, tinkling bar piano comes in contact with botched synthesizer and clicking noises. The album rushes on out to the back of a distorted urge overkill sample with "thank god I'm a rapist" and transfers rather maddeningly into the staggering 7 min epic noise track, "ICD-10-GM-2010 X84.9!" and its drone influenced ambient follower "Carrion angel, sing me a song". Guitars refuse to play anything but atmospheric clicks, there is vomit, and then the bats come out with the Shit Noise Records cut "Something darker than death". "3WaySplitReleases suck" is Nadek reacquainting the listener with his uses of feedback and echo, a wild dim ride through nightscapes and menace. The ambient aspect of this album is brought up again on "H.P.Lovecraft's Yule Horror", and this time, it sticks around to really flaunt its surreal chops, weaving windy passages with haunting distortion and sound effects. The album ends with "[zak] feat. David Barrows", a song that may include some of the most creative and fresh sounding sampling, honest drones, and surprising edits from any underground noise maker on TFR.
Three thumbs way up.
Get the kids ready.
And unless you are absolutely prepared, don;t open Josef's can of worms. It is a dead serious, foreboding, and generally creepy trip, into the depths of absolute mad imagination.
