Special one-full-hour edition. In the context of the recent damning report by the internationally respected Justice Goldstone, a self-proclaimed Zionist, and the Orwellian response of our so-called leaders in the U.S., we decided to have an in-depth interview with famed Jewish professor and author Joel Kovel.
Kovel's most recent book is Overcoming Zionism: Creating a Single Democratic State in Israel/Palestine (2007). The book is reportedly "absolutely fundamental for those who reject the unfortunate confusion between Jews, Judaism, Zionism and the State of Israel -- a confusion which is the basis for systematic manipulation by the imperialist power system."
It seems to have gotten him fired from his professorship at Bard College. In Sherif Fam's temporary absence, this interview was conducted by WZBC's news director John Grebe (producer of Sounds of Dissent) and local activist Ken Barney.
This Week In Palestine (a weekly part of Truth and Justice Radio) is (normally) a three-quarter-hour segment of news from Palestine and discussion of issues relevant to the Palestinians' struggle for freedom from Israel's brutal military occupation and colonization, and now bombing, devastation, imprisonment, and murder, of their homeland, thanks in part to U.S. taxpayer funding.
It's part of Truth and Justice Radio, aired Sundays 6-9:30am ET on WZBC 90.3FM, Newton, MA, streaming (and also archived for two weeks) at wzbc.org. Our website, truthandjusticeradio.org, links to audio archives of 2008/2009 editions of This Week In Palestine; most editions are also obtainable from radio4all.net by typing "This Week In Palestine" into the search box.
