Taped Rugs 06 06 Tour Of The Southeast USA:
Georgia, Disk Two
In June of 2006, Charles Rice Goff III visited several experimental sound artists in North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee. Later that year, Taped Rugs Productions released a set of seven CDR recordings and one DVD video which documented Goff’s interactions during the tour. This archive presents the materials from the fourth disk in the set.
The materials presented here were recorded by Goff on June 16th and 17th in Roswell and Atlanta, Georgia. The first recording, “Unmark Of The Beast,” is a portion from the improvisation session that Dave Fuglewicz, Goff, and Hal McGee held on the evening of June 16th at Fuglewicz’s home. Fuglewicz’s computer recording of this segment failed, but Goff was shooting a video at the time, and this bit is the soundtrack from the video. The video itself is also included on the DVD from the tour.
The second recording, “That’s Disgusting,” was made on a microcassette recorder at the “Table 1280” restaurant on the grounds of Atlanta’s High Museum Of Art on June 17th. McGee’s high-priced hamburger and the qualities of salt and pepper floating in an environment without gravity were just two of the topics for this unique discussion between the three lunching sound artists.
The third recording, “Press To Record, Press To Play,” was made in Fuglewicz’s condo on Goff’s digital camera while Fuglewicz prepared to participate in a Tapegerm internet sonic marathon on June 17th. Goff and McGee employed musical instruments, non instruments, tapes, a radio, animal calls, readings, and chants (from a religious publication that Goff found during their adventure to the art Museum earlier that day) to produce this unique improvisation.
