In June of 2006, Charles Rice Goff III visited several experimental sound artists in North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee. Later that year, Taped Rugs Productions released a set of seven CDR recordings and one DVD video which documented Goff’s interactions during the tour. This archive presents the materials from the seventh disk in the set.
During Goff’s stay in Memphis, his host, Chris Phinney, took Goff to several places in the city which bear considerable musical history. These tours had an inspirational effect on the improvisation sessions that the two sound artists held during Goff’s visit. The two visited the grounds of Graceland, the Blues center of Beale Street, Stax Records, and Sun Records.
Here the entire contents of Tennessee, Disk Two are presented, containing the second set of Phinney's mixes of the improvisations created in Memphis as well as a humorous collage of readings from the fence in front of Graceland (that Goff had documented on his microcassette recorder). These were the final recordings made on the Taped Rugs 06 06 Tour. Goff left for his home in Lawrence, Kansas on the morning of June 26th.
