On December 12, 2008 band manager Piers Henwood gave permission for Tegan and Sara's live recordings to be shared for free on archive.org. In the event Tegan and Sara's label (Warner) objects to these shows being shared here, they will be removed.
"Hi there,
I'm a very busy person and hence don't have the opportunity to reply to every email I receive.
To clarify, I'm very familiar with archive.org and philosophically I support file trading. The issue is that Tegan and Sara are signed to a major label (Warner) and hence the nature of our approval system is inherently different than, say, Kaki King. There are different types of copyrights in the music industry and different sets of rights holders. I will not burden you with the details here.
Suffice to say, you will not receive complaints from our camp if Tegan and Sara live files end up on archive.org. That said, I can't single-handedly give you a comprehensive approval given the nature of Tegan and Sara's deal with Warner. But we live in the digital age, and we all know (including the major labels) that we can't control -- nor do we wish to control -- the dissemination of live recording files on the internet.
Sincerely,
Piers Henwood"
Regarding taping policy:
"There's not a concern on our end as long as it's for personal use, and done on non-professional equipment from your seat in a manner that doesn't disturb anyone.""
