„The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet“ is an American sitcom, airing on ABC from October 3, 1952 through March 26, 1966, starring the real life Nelson family.
This sitcom had its seeds in a radio show and the show was brought to television where it continued its success, running on both radio and TV for a couple of years. The series stars Ozzie Nelson and his wife, singer Harriet Nelson, and their young sons, David and Eric "Ricky" Nelson. Many of the series storylines were taken from the Nelsons' real life.
The series attracted large audiences, and it became synonymous with the 1950s ideal American family life. It calls itself as „America‘s favorite family“.
It is the longest-running live-action sitcom in US television history. The show ran for a total of fourteen television seasons, and for nearly four decades, that‘s why it held the record as the longest running American television sitcom, live or animated, until the record was broken by „The Simpsons“ in 2004.
The show seeked realism and featured exterior shots of the Nelsons' actual southern California home at 1822 Camino Palmero Street in Los Angeles as the fictional Nelsons' home. Interior shots were filmed on a sound stage recreated to look like the real interior of the Nelsons' home.
„The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet“ contains typical sitcom elements as the live audience, which you can hear laughing as well as the address to the audience, which appears in the acting of the actors: They‘re speaking to viewers, for example in this episode, when they are „selling“ the air conditioner.

I had always enjoyed Ozzie & Harriet as well as the music of Ricky Nelson. Good show, always a quality product.
However I have to disagree with the previous poster. Yeah times were more innocent back in those days..but only on TV. The 50's and early 60's were a time when blacks were treated like garbage and many men who werent married by age 25 were labeled "gay" and often be accused of child molesting just because they were single. Many employers back in the day would hire only marrieds and women only were able to find "women's jobs". Child abuse was an "overlooked" problem, divorce? Forget it !!...the list goes on. The 50's wasnt' for everyone.
Sometimes I would read old newspapers from the 50's and 60's online through Newspaper Archives and believe me, TV of that era didn't always reflect real life at the time.

OH HOW I WISH WE COULD BE IN THOSE DAYS COMPARED TO THE DAYS WE ARE IN NOW. TELEVISION WAS WHOLESOME AND INOCENT . WE NEED TO GO BACK . THESE TIMES ARE JUST NOT THE SAME ANYLONGER. THE PEOPLE FROM THAT TIME ERA KNEW HOW TO LIVE AND HAD HIGH CLASS LEVELS. I WANT TO GO BACK .A PLUS TO THESE OLD DAYS .

Isn't that Billy Mumy? Who knew in 1964 that only two short years later Billy would be Lost in Space.

Good episode of the sitcom "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet", which lasted 14 years despite the fact that it never entered the top 10. This episode is good, but by 1964 the show had began to lose steam. Still, It's fun. Thanks to the person who uploaded this. To make things more interesting, This copy is complete with original commercials.
