Old Time Radio Programs
"Sunrise and Sunset, Promise and Fulfilment, Birth and Death, The whole Drama of Life is played out in the Sands of Time"
This is a great series where the main theme seems to be Retribution. Imported from Austrailia it ran from 1946 until 1948. Stories as told by Father Time. Sort of like Twilight Zone for the radio.

Harp McGuire (1921-66) was an American who was a US Marine stationed in Australia at the end of World War II. He stayed in Australia, having met a local woman and marrying her. Eventually, McGuire found his way to Grace Gibson (an American who emigrated to Australia before the war) who was a producer of radio dramas, many using US scripts. He played the part of the Clock, the narrator of the show (a character which only vaguely exists in the American version). The Australian version of the show didn't air until a few years after the American version went off the air. After the show went off the air, McGuire returned to the United States. But rather than return to his native Tennessee, he went to Los Angeles where he was an actor for television and movies. I remember him on the "Twilight Zone" as the navigator of the airplane that went back in time as the crew was trying to land at Idlewild Airport (now JFK) in New York. Harp McGuire died at the age of 44.
Grace Gibson lived in Australia for the rest of her life.

In The Criminal Mind, I couldn't understand what the woman was saying. The men's voices were very clear, but the female voice was garbled. Is there a way to clear up her delivery?

I was reminded of Kirsten Dunst's character in the motion picture Interview with the vampire telling she wanted some more.

I have just getting around to say a few words on this fine Radio Program. I rotate the episodes in with the many other radio programs that I try to keep up with. So far audio quality is quite good, and the story line goes right along with the best. No problems with downloads. As stated in previous reviews, give it a go. Thanks Lum for your time.

Several OTR sites state that the show was first produced in the U.S. (perhaps Hollywood & New York) and the scripts were later used for the Australian version.

Subject: The best OTR show, hands down.
I've been a fan of OTR for years now, I stumbled accross the clock the other night and really think this is one of the best shows out there.
Shows like Theater Five, CBS Radio Mystery theatre, Dimention-x, X minus one etc. are all outstanding, but this one shines just a little bit brighter :).

i listened to a few of these, through curiosity. i noticed that the few i did listen to had the late john mellion, the tour guide in crocodile dundee, i think that one was called the actor. his real life wife the late june salter was in another, i'm not to sure of the title of that one. i myself ain't a great fan of death or murder, i get enough on the daily news. these, or the ones i listened to, are more murder mystery, rather than twilight zone, which made for television, so you can't really compare the two. the clock was made a year or so after the second world war, things were in infancy or primary school. the twilight zone is late fifties, early sixties and things had moved on. i know nothing of, the clock, but i have seen alot of twilight zone, cheese and chalk really. also try the mysterious traveller.

Polished production ... many off-beat crime dramas. Some light-hearted fantasy (ie, Island of Women). Pretty much every episode has a twist ending ...
On occasion the host will step in to make a short pithy comment about 'time' which, to be honest, my mind tunes out. But then I'm not used to having stories interrupted in this way.
While entertaining, it's lighter than the top-notch Twilight Zone tv series, being no where near as suspenseful, unsettling or creepy.

Subject: 32kps NOT 64kps.
The bit rate on these files is NOT 64 kps, they are actually encoded @ 32 kps. Still quite clear recordings in glorious mildly crackly classic mono and well worth your time to download. The show... among the best. Intriguing stories, always entertaining. Grab a few and give it a go.
