Short, so-so old house mystery with James Dunn. Video quality on the DVD not the best. You've seen better, you've seen worse, but have you seen this old house mystery?

The Gang's All Here
A stupid plot, leaden acting. Why bother. They don't get much worse than this.

Talent wasted
James Dunn was wonderful in this. His special way of delivering sarcastic witty lines makes any movie worth viewing. The screenplay, written by talented Morey Amsterdam, of Dick Van Dyke Show fame, could have faired much better in the hands of a different director. I also much appreciated the talents of Sam McDaniel, Hattie McDaniel's older brother, as Harmony the chauffeur. Sad that such talented African-American actors were so confined by the culture of the day.

poor video quality, but a funny story.....
Ok, so.....not so good video quality, lotsa dark, hard-to-see scenes, but with a hilarious story. A superstitious/highly nervous black person always improves a movie like this, esp. when there's a corpse involved. Throw in a hangman studying his neck throughout the film, and you've got lots of laughs headed your way.... 3 stars for good story, bad quality.

Okay, For A No Brainer...
Not a great movie by any means, but it's short so you won't waste much time. Lots of bad editing, and of course these were "made on the cheap".
James Dunn, would later be featured in the 50's on TV with "It's A Great Life". A situation comedy, long-forgotten. It also starred Michael O'Shea & William Bishop. They were sponsored by the Chrysler Corp. and I used to love the show opening when they were crusing down the road in a Chrysler Convertible !
Bad news is that the film is horrible quality, and very D-A-R-K with lots of night scenes that are almost unviewable.
The "Hangman" is a great character, the plot is 40's fun, and, the cast tries hard. SO, I'll give it at least one "star".

Brainless
Turn off your brain, just shut it down, and you may be able to enjoy this comedy. I couldn't do it.
I downloaded the 649MB MPEG4. Use a player that can be set to deinterlace video.
