In the field of attachment challenged individuals there are many VERY reactive persons. A smile/frown, change in tone of voice, teasing or asking for a time-outs from the individual can illicit a highly reactive response from the person who may have experienced trauma of early childhood. Often the personĂ¢s highly reactive response is out of shame or fear of punishment. The team must decide how to keep everyone safe and help the individual learn to regulate themselves in a healthy manner which provides nurturing support from the parent.
