Bob Steele - Trusting Naivite and Treachery
An interesting western with a few strong points and a few weak ones. Bob Steele stars as a jailed outlaw with a streak of trusting simplicity whose partner, played by George "Gabby" Hayes, manages to forge a document to the Governor requesting Steele's pardon. And, he then takes the document to the Governor, who against all reason, grants the pardon. These are some of the hard to believe weak points. Steele heads home where he is surprised to find that the only person in town on his side is love interest pretty Martha Dix - what did he expect?. Then he visits his old gang led by Hayes, whose warm welcome goes cold when Steele says he is going straight - well, its a believable if unlikely situation. And so it goes back and forth - Steele gains trust and loses it, gains trust and loses it. What's good - the fact that Steele is trying to go straight and works on righting some wrongs. Oh well, live and learn and our hero rides into the sunset.
