Drunk, high and having fun
Oscar is obviously wasted in this episode, his wife is sitting next to him to keep him in line, and Astaire has no idea where the songs are going because Oscar is changing the keys throughout the songs! This is the only episode of the show that exists, it isn't complete. It was made because Astaire wanted a copy.
Oscar was always open about his addictions,he was considered a genius by many. His show was yanked off the air after he remarked that Marilyn Monroe becoming a Jew meant that her hubby Arthur Miller could now eat her. He would later say he didn't mean it that way, but the damage was done.
His long suffering wife was married to him for 33 years and many times had to send him to psychiatric hospitals to keep him from harming himself. The quality of this show is very poor, Astaire never looked so clueless, Levant is battling his self destructive urges on camera. That actually makes this show so honest that I give it 5 stars. For years jack Paar would end his show with, "Goodnight Oscar Levant, wherever you are". To read more of my reviews, click on my name and check out the films and shows.

Poor Picture Quality - But Loads of FUN!!
Big Thank You to the person who re-uploaded this gem (which as of this review, should really be moved to the Classic TV section). Oscar Levant was a real insane madman, but his piano playing is wonderful. His guest, Fred Astaire, sings a few numbers.
There is at least one more surviving episode (at the UCLA). Shame so much 1950's TV is lost forever.
