Heidi McElnea (Tall Story)The right to remain silent - Radio Documentary for Community Radio Satellite (ComRadSat) (1998)

Would you like to try our new video/audio player ? (beta!)

In the late 90s I was producer/ presenter for 2SERFM's environmental and social justice program, Mutiny. I interviewed many individuals who had experienced unfair - and at times shocking - treatment by police and the judicial system while expressing their 'democratic right to protest'. Corporate or political pressure is often an underlying influence and appears to impact on this and other rights of protesters.

This documentary reports on these issues, samples from a range of individual's stories, and includes an interview with a young woman whose punitive incarceration was totally disproportionate to her 'offence'.
