During the summer of 1977 The Runaways took the unsuspecting nation of Japan by storm becoming the fourth most popular imported musical act behind Led Zeppelin and The Beatles. Unfortunately most of the available video footage from their two month tour is of fifth or sixth generation bootleg quality.
While not particularly Hi-Definition I think that these video clips from their Japanese television appearances are slightly higher quality than most of the footage found on Youtube at this time, this video appears to be sourced from a second or third generation VHS tape copy.
The Runaways lineup in 1977 featured Cherie Currie on vocals, the dueling guitars of Joan Jett and Lita Ford, with the legendary Sandy West (RIP) on drums and Jackie Fox on base.
