An account of the origins of Maidie's name and the tradition of being seen first by her Scottish 'provister'(?) Grandfather when she was born. Now 97, Maidie says in her cheeky broad Scottish accent, that she just uses 'Margaritte' when she's being " high falutin." This Oral History excerpt - from A TRACK WINDING BACK - concludes with a discussion of her Grandmother's unfinished embroidered slippers; their completion, something Maidie has never quite slipped into. There's also a memory of revisiting the Glen and of the family home's front steps, guarded by two lions... And where her Grandfather once sat in a beaded smoking cap.Oral History Interviewer:Magella Blinksell.
