Notes
The Borum Grease Corporation was formed in the fall of 1971 at a senior class retreat talent show by a group of alleged musicians from Saint Joseph's High School, Metuchen, New Jersey. Throughout the year the band performed at various venues throughout New Jersey including school dances, church youth groups and one memorable concert at the Woodbridge Center Mall.
Borum Grease had its genesis at approximately the same time and not far geographically from that of another New Jersey-based musician, one Mr. Springsteen. Bruce obviously turned out to have exhibited just a tad more talent.
Though we played regularly (and even practiced sporadically) we never rose above the level of talent now preserved for posterity on these distinctly less-than-high-fidelity live recordings. What we lacked in musical skill, however, we more than made up for in enthusiasm, and over three decades later people still remember Metuchen's musical phenomenon of 1972: "Borum Grease."
