The First Zorro Film
In color and complete, this first "Zorro" was an "A" picture attempt by the new studio Republic Pictures and it's a rouser indeed. This film made Bob Livingston a star. He'd been around for a while in small rolls, but this was something else and he's quite good. Heather Angel was quite good as well. Sig Ruman was the deadly but oafish Comandante, mit der German accent. All told this picture was a first for Republic. This film made money and while the story is juvenile and overly romantic and at times just over-wrought, it's a must see film. Enjoy. (If you like spotting actors, everybody on the lot is in this picture, all uncredited.)
