Lawrence Tierney ("Reservoir Dogs") plays an unreformed, hardened criminal who has just been released from prison. While working at his brother's gas station, he becomes very interested in the armored car that makes regular stops at the bank across the street.
If you enjoy heist films, watch this. Tierney was perfect for this type of role.

HE WAS JUST LIKE HE WAS IN THE MOVIES,A TOUGH GUY,AT LEAST HE LIKED TO THINK THAT.I KNEW HIM IN NEW YORK WHEN HE LIVED ON THE STREET AND HE WAS DOWN AND OUT,HIS MOVIE MAKING DAYS SEEMED TO BE OVER,BUT HE SNAPPED OUT OF IT AND RESTARTED HIS ACTING WORK. MR. SHEEN CAN LEARN FROM THIS.SORRY TO SAY,I THINK HE PASSED AWAY WHEN HE WAS LIVING IN HOLLYWOOD.HIS BROTHER SCOTT BRADY,THE REAL FAMILY LAST NAME,FAIRED BETTER,AND ALSO I BELIEVE IS NO LONGER WITH US.

Highly Enjoyable
Lawrence Tierney was such a powerful presence, that you can't help but enjoy every moment he's on screen. There was such a quality about him...I don't know how to describe it exactly...a sort of restrained brutality. One of the best examples of this is in "Born To Kill". I never thought I would like him, but he proves me wrong every time I sit down and watch his films.
And at a running time of 61 minutes, it won't exactly waste your time. Who else has sat through 230 odd (boring) minutes of "Gone With The Wind" and realized they were never getting it back? I certainly regretted that, but not this little gem.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Big Loser
This movie is ok, but I found it stale. The film does have interesting scenery and cars of the time, but its not a great one.

A Good Lawrence Tierney Film
Lawrence Tierney excelled in feature films playing the hardened criminal. This film has a good plot, is well paced, and comes to a satisfactory conclusion. His mother in the film, Lisa Glom, deserves special recognition, especially for her final scene in the film. Lawrence Tierney never gained the sympathy of the audience as did John Garfield in some of his films playing hardened criminals, maybe because Garfield showed some repentence for his actions, while Tierney was unrepentent to the end. Some viewers may be interested in the 1950 and 1951 automobiles in the film, with special notice to the ones used as police cars.

family affair
This is a neat little B picture featuring two thirds of the Tierney acting family.
Standard plot but a little unusual for the time with its reference to extra marital pregnancy.

Tierney is always cool to watch and that make this film a good, solid entertainment.

panned
This movie was dull and predictable, too heavy on the "moral-lesson of how a crook ends up". The hoodlum was really just too shallow and the plot too thin to be entertaining. Another recent noire-upload is Woman on the Run and it's not a great movie but it was so much more engaging...
