I know Charlie Chaplin is a silent movie icon but this film was just plain painful to watch. If you have any intention of watching it other than to see Charlie Chaplin, you will be sorely disappointed. I imagine Charlie Chaplin did the best someone could do in a role such as this. The storyline is very predictable and drags on and on.
This is exactly what I expected from a silent film: a terribly boring film. If you want to see a good silent film, watch Buster Keaton in Scarecrow on archive.org. That film had a memorable scene and even though the latter part dragged on, it wasn't nearly as bad as this film. Scarecrow is from 1920.
I was able to make it through the film by taking several breaks through this one hour, seven minute film. I gave this film a chance but I doubt I will be watching another Charlie Chaplin film.
