RIYL: Twangy/Psychedelic pop
The Spectacular FantasticIn preparation for their upcoming album due this fall, The Spectacular Fantastic have decided to release another free EP! These songs range from the psychedelic to the introspective, always with a dash of Heartland pop, in hopes that everyone can find a song that fits their mood.
Last year, we followed a similar path, releasing the free
I love you EP, which gathered much attention across the blogosphere. We can only hope to continue building on that momentum by spreading our own brand of folky pop far and wide.
Last fall we released "The Spectacular Fantastic Goes Underground" on
Ionik Recordings, which has nearly sold out since then. As a token of our appreciation for all of your help and support, we'd like to offer up the Free EP 2006.
Thank You so much...
Please enjoy the free tunes.

Great Great Stuff
If you dig the Elephant 6 sound at all, you owe it to yourself to download this now. A song from this will be headlining my next podcast (which will here on the archive as well... Thinsafetypin Podcast #10)

interesting
the voices are nice, and this band looks pretty interesting, but there's a lack of originality in the melodies, and i dislike the sound of the "electronic" stuffs.

Fantastic Spectacularly
A little background....I first discovered these guys a little over a year ago, in all places a website in England that had a link to another band who raved about Spectacular Fantastic.
I assumed they were Brits, forgot about them (only downloaded one song that day) and came across the song again today. I went to their website and downloaded some of their free tunes, and lo and behold I find out they are right in my backyard -- from the Cincinnati, Ohio area.
I am in my early 40's, these are younger guys in the band, but check them out, you will NOT be disappointed.
Start with the track California, it is hard rocking and reminiscent of 60's-70's Brit rock.
These tracks are all studio work, so they are as clean as can be.
I personally plan on seeing the band ASAP now that I know they play locally and will also be dropping some cash in their laps to buy their CD's, that is how much I was impressed with them from the freebies here and on their website.
I don't think Spectacular Fantastic would mind me saying you also need to check out Tessiura (search for them, they are on a sampler that is also on this site). Another local Cincy band that kicks, start out with the song Nervous and you will be trying to buy that CD as well.
