Victor Buono gives a very convincing portrayal of a character supposedly modeled after the Boston Strangler in this gripping drama. Ellen Corby plays his mother. |

Looks like an interesting movie
I've tried downloading many times with little success. Once, I got half the movie, and what I saw was interesting but totally out of sync. Generally, the download begins and then just stops, leaving me to see only the first few frames.

Complex social commentary
This softballed tension flick which attempts a disarmingly lighthearted romp, conceals a sophisticated exploration of the need for aged care facilities. Various geriatric social issues are identified, with the death of several women used as a transparent metaphor of the premature abandonment of aged parents.
Buono loses a couple of stars for his unsuccessful attempt to express sympathy for his victims (a key subplot element), but his otherwise moving performance highlights clearly the economic dilemma facing the younger generation as they balance their personal needs with the demands of filial piety.

Creepy!
Great character work here by Victor Buono. I was surprised I hadn't heard of it before. I'm so glad it was made in black and white.

Great, Campy Film!
Victor Buono is absolutely great in his role as the psychopathic murderer of women who remind him of his mother (played by the actress who we are most familiar with as Grandma Walton on the popular television series). I don't know whose relationship is more twisted--that of Norman Bates and his dear ol' mum, or the one portrayed in this film. Certainly they resemble each other!

OUT OF SYNC
Why is it that some movies are so badly out of sync when they are up loaded? You cannot enjoy the movie at all.

Not a bad film
Mr. Buono's character is a lab technician at a hospital who has a uh, ah er- a problem. I shall not tell you any more. You must watch this odd film yourself. It's not really suspenseful but the word for it is intrigueing.
I meet Mr. Buono at a Jr. College I was attending in Pennsylvania and he was doing a reading of some of his poetry. The man was not given enough credit for his humor and genius. After the reading, many of us asked questions of acting roles. I asked about his involvement in "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane" with Joan Crawford and Bette Davis. He looked me right in the eye, smiled a wide grin, and said in that voice that made him the great character actor he was, and said, "It was a-musing".
