Richard WallaceThe Young In Heart (1938)

From IMDb: The Carletons (Janet Gaynor, Douglas Fairbanks Jr.) make a living as card sharps and finding new suckers from whom to mooch off. When their latest scam backfires, they are asked to leave Monte Carlo. At the train station, they meet a kind old woman named Miss Fortune (Minnie Dupree). The elderly lady is very wealthy and very lonely. As a reward for saving her life after the train derails, Miss Fortune invites the Carletons to come live with her. The family hopes that by winning her affection, they can eventually be named sole beneficiaries in her will. But will a change of heart soften their mercenary feelings before that time comes?

Subject: My favorite kind of movie
Thirties screwball comedies are among my favoriteS, and I'm so glad I stumbled upon this one! I love the dialogue, unforced, unimpressive, just what you'd expect and WANT in this type of movie! The delivery and acting is so 30's elegant. Janet and Paulette are soo petite, ALL OF THE PLATITUDES USED IN THIS MOVIE ARE STIL CURRENTLY USED. Roland (Young? I forget) is hilarious and is enui personified. I swear there are tons of stuff in this movie that comedians have adopted. Tell me Roland's character doesn't sound like Eddie in Absolutely Fabulous!!!

Worth watching. Although predictable it was entertaining and held my interest. I was not disappointed, but I love old movies like this. This is a pretty good one.

Subject: Mushy, Predictable, and fun, just the same
One of the carefree movies of the late 30's to portray the idealistic morality of even those who would take advantage of the 'elderly'. Despite all that hoopla it's enjoyable to listen and watch Douglas Fairbanks Jr., Janet Gynor, and especially Paulette Goddard. The print is excellent and renders nicely to DVD format as well. Richard Carlson overdoes a scottish accent.
