After suffering a fatal heart attack, confirmed bachelor Emlyn Williams (as Maxwell "Max" Bard) gives heavenly greeters his last wish - he would like to observe events on Earth for the next twenty-four hours.
And, with good reason. Mr. Williams has left not only a will, but also letters to "Three Husbands" admitting affairs with each of their three wives.
The three men are poker playing pals Shepperd Strudwick (as Arthur Evans), Robert Karnes (as Kenneth Whittaker), and Howard Da Silva (as Dan McCabe). Their respective wives are Ruth Warrick (as Jane), Vanessa Brown (as Mary), and Eve Arden (as Lucille).

I enjoyed this one
What can I add to the previous reviews? I liked the story, the performances of the players and the deviousness of the dead man who wanted to set things right with all concerned after his demise.
5 stars.

Real fun
I truly enjoyed this film. The story was predictable and familiar, but the acting, direction and good quality of the print made this a film to want to see again. Eve Arden was so beautiful, had great legs and an accent and voice that didn't quite match her looks, but was perfect for the characters she played. Mr. DiSilva is always fun to watch. Everyone in this movie gave amazing life to their characters and their delivery was flawless. 5 stars, only because I can't give more.

Entertaining
Unlike Letter To Three Wives, the letter writer appears as a central visible character. He's entertaining watching him mess with people's minds. Can't tell you how it ends, that would spoil it. Giving it 4 stars because I'm not sure I really loved the ending.
And it features Eve Arden, the sourest voice ever caught on film. She's always funny and annoying at the same time.

Rocky romance
A cadre of excellent actors who usually only appear in supporting roles get to shine front-stage in this seriocomic reversal of the plot of Joseph L. Mankiewicz's "A Letter to Three Wives." In fact its alternate title is "Letter to Three husbands." The actors are Emlyn Williams, Eve Arden, Howard Da Silva, Ruth Warrick, Stepperd Sturdwick, Vanessa Brown and Robert Karnes. Supporting roles are filled by Billie Burke, Jonathan Hale, and Jane Darwell. Benson Fong (Charlie Chan's #3 son Tommy) has a walk-on. In other words it's a 5-star cast.
Three close friends of a deceased man receive letters which confess he had affairs with each of their wives. Of course the excrement hits the ventilator. Why then is it the wives who file for divorces? To find out you'll have to watch this fast-paced matrimonial rollick.
Snappy dialog, crisp direction, A-feature production values and great performances. Watch it!
Very good video and audio. Complete print.
