Reviewer:gratisvibes.com - - July 24, 2007 Subject: Reviewed on Gratisvibes.com The selection of tracks is varied and the mood swings towards the deeper and darker end of things after starting with lighter fare at the beginning. Some great tracks at the beginning include Ascend at the 6:40 mark with its rich sounding pads and pseudo-political voice clips and the short track, Deep City, following it featuring gentle and soothing melodies.
Desire is yet another great track to listen to. It comes in at around the 22:00 mark. The track has a nice bouncy rhythm to it, accompanied by sultry sounding voice clips and sparse atmospheric string melodies. The next track Rote Sonne is an ambient techno track and marks the start of the more techno-influenced side of things.
Personally, I found the tracks after not having as much personality as the earlier tracks and slightly minimal in nature. Therefore, I was pleased to find that it wasn’t minimalish ambient techno all the way. At about the 66:30 mark, we find the somewhat upbeat sounding track Interaction, with its playful mixture of haunting hums and quirky instruments playing simple melodies. Surprisingly instead of sounding way off with the rest of the mix, it all works in an amusing way and brings us back to the less serious side of things. The last two tracks following Interaction bear similarities to the earlier tracks of the mix and winds down everything nicely.
Overall, the mixing work was well done and the selection was pretty good with some great sounding ones. Transitions were smooth and there were no noticeable breaks. A nice listen from beginning to end.
