Tex Ritter - Dead End Trail
A "D" quality film, starring Tex Ritter, who sings too many forgettable songs in his so-so baritone voice - as Pamela Blake, the obligatory attractive female, tells him at one point, You play the guitar well." Poor Tex is burdened with his two usual slapstick sidekicks, Horace Murphy and "Snub" Pollard (here as Peewee Pollard) who play silly, cowardly, useless friends, who are small, skinny, and more or less gun shy. Why tough Tex would pal around with these losers is beyond me - they are of little or no help to him. And, they add unneeded poor attempts at humor to this film. Well, you can't blame them, someone wrote this silly script. Charles King and Karl Hackett, usually great, make one-dimensional bad guys. Yes, there are a few good parts - fights, gun battles, chase scenes - but not enough to make the film interesting.
