Subject: Amazing Grace version is not Vera Lynn
Leann Rimes' version from "You Light Up My Life: Inspirational Songs" (1997)
Wave form comparison in Audacity confirms they are the same song, only filtered slightly. The timing is spot-on and peaks are identical.

But the version of Amazing Grace here sounds a lot like (exactly the same as) Leann Rimes' version from "You Light Up My Life: Inspirational Songs" (1997)

Subject: Overwrought Ego-Bound Pop Screamers Need Not Apply
Egads, if I thought I were getting a Whitney Houston sound-alike, I wouldn't download anything here! Fortunately, Vera Lynn has what few if any of today's screamaniacs, er, singers have these days, talent and class. Maybe, the karaoke craze or cretin boomcars have caused modern ears to become "dumbed down" as to what constitutes the difference between music and noise.

Subject: Amazing Grace-Vera Lynn
It's difficult to believe Vera Lynn recorded this piece some fifty years ago. Her vocal styling of Amazing Grace is as up to date as any female vocalist today...and all a cappella. I thought i was listening to a Whitney Houston. Stevie P.
