Description

Watson's Magazine, August, 1915

Firebrand Tom Watson publishes this historically significant and seminal work in his Watson's Magazine, produced through his Jeffersonian publishing company, August, 1915, volume 21 no. 4, featuring Leo Frank trial for the murder of Mary Phagan.

This issue is considered one of the most clear cut perspectives on the Leo Frank Case, along with the September, 1915 issue. There are several other well written booklets on the Leo Frank case that you should definitely read. For more information on the Leo Frank Case, visit: www.LeoFrank.org

More excellent books and reading on the subject include:

0. The Leo Frank Case (Mary Phagan) Inside Story of Georgia's Greatest Murder Mystery 1913 - The first neutral book written on the subject. Very interesting read.

1. The Murder of Little Mary Phagan by Mary Phagan Kean (Available here on www.Archive.org). Written by Mary Phagan Kean, the great grand niece of Mary Phagan. A neutral account of the events surrounding the trial of Leo Frank. The Murder of Little Mary Phagan is well worth reading and it is a refreshing change from the endless number of Jewish and contemporary books turning the Leo Frank case into a neurotic race obsessed tabloid controversy.

2. American State Trials, volume X (1918) by John Lawson (Available here on www.Archive.org) Tends to be biased in favor of Leo Frank and his legal defense team, this document provides an abridged version of the Brief of Evidence, leaving out some important things said and details when it republishes parts of the trial testimony. Be sure to read the closing arguments of Luther Zeigler Rosser, Reuben Rose Arnold, Frank Arthur Hooper and Hugh Manson Dorsey. For a more complete version of the Leo M. Frank trial testimony, read the 1913 murder trial brief of evidence and you can see what was left out.

3. Argument of Hugh M. Dorsey in the Trial of Leo Frank (Available here on www.archive.org and www.LeoFrank.org). Some but not all of the 9 hours of arguments given to the Jury at the end of the Leo Frank trial. Only 18 Libraries in the world have copies of this books. It can be found here on archive.org thanks to leofrank.org. This is an excellent book and required reading to see how Dorsey in sales vernacular 'closed' a Jury of 12 men and Judge Roan.

4. Leo M. Frank, Plaintiff in Error, vs. State of Georgia, Defendant in Error. In Error from Fulton Superior Court at the July Term 1913, Brief of Evidence. Extremely rare, only 1 copy exists, and it is at the Georgia State Archive. This document is available now on LeoFrank.org.

5, 6, 7, The Atlanta Constitution, The Atlanta Journal, The Atlanta Georgian (Hearst's Tabloid Yellow Journalism), April 28th to August 27th 1913.

8. Tom Watson's Jeffersonian Newspapers and Watson's Magazine: Watson's Magazine, January 1915, Watson's Magazine, March 1915; Watson's Magazine, August 1915, Watson's Magazine, September 1915, and Watson's Magazine, October of 1915. (Available here on www.Archive.org and LeoFrank.org). Tom Watson's best work on the Leo M. Frank case was published in September 1915. Watson's five works written collectively on the Leo M. Frank topic, provide logical arguments confirming the guilt of Leo M. Frank with superb reasoning.

These five works are absolutely required reading for anyone interested in the Leo M. Frank Case. Tom Watson's magazine publications surged from 30,000 to 100,000 copies, when it was announced he would be writing on the Leo Frank case. These magazines are extremely rare and very difficult to find. However they have been scanned and are available on both www.Archive.org and www.leofrank.org

3. The Celebrated Case of The State of Georgia vs. Leo Frank By Tom Watson (August 1915) Volumne 21, No 4. See page 182 for 'The Celebrated Case of the State of Georgia vs. Leo Frank". Jeffersonian Publishing Company, Thomson, Ga., Digital Source Archive.org

4. The Official Record in the Case of Leo Frank, Jew Pervert By Tom Watson (September 1915) Volume 21. No. 5. See page 251 for 'The Official Record in the Case of Leo Frank, Jew Pervert'. Jeffersonian Publishing Company, Thomson, Ga., Digital Source Archive.org

5. The Rich Jews Indict a State! The Whole South Traduced in the Matter of Leo Frank By Tom Watson (October 1915) Volume 21. No. 6. See page 301. Jeffersonian Publishing Company, Thomson, Ga., Digital Source Archive.org

After you read all five issues of Tom Watson's Magazine dealing with the Leo Frank case you will understand why people do now want you to read them and will try to scare you away from reading them. Put all the rhetoric aside and read these five works (focus on August, September and October of 1915) by Tom Watson with an independent mind and make the determination of whether or not his arguments are clear, logical and lucid, or they poorly formulated.

Subject: Tom Watsons Analysis Stands Today as the Best Produced in the Last 100 Years!
The title says it all.

Watson solves the Mary Phagan murder with ease and without needing Jim Conley's testimony! Through his brilliant logic and analysis, Tom Watson elevates Monteen Stover as the real star witness who broke Leo Frank's Alibi, not Jim Conley.

Ready for the Most Shocking Blunder in U.S. Court Room History?

Leo Frank made a massive blunder in his final statement to the Trial Jury, when he said he may have unconsciously went to the bathroom between 12:05 and 12:10 to account for Monteen Stover saying Leo Frank was not in his office during that time.

The problem with Leo Frank's statement, is it puts him exactly where Mary Phagan was killed and her body was initially found there by Jim Conley. Leo Frank basically admitted he killed Mary Phagan in the Metal Room. The two men who articulate the Leo Frank murder confession in their closing arguments are Solicitor General Hugh M. Dorsey and Attorney Frank Arthur Hooper for the State's prosecution team, but if the truth be known, Tom Watson offers a much more delicious interpretation of Leo Frank murder confession.

Be Sure to Read All Five of Tom Watson's booklets on the subject of Leo Frank Saga in his Watson's Magazine, January, March, August, September and October 1915.

Subject: Bigotry should not be ignored
Frank absolutely did not have a fair trial - that's why the cases so famous. Jurors were bullied and threatened. The media, particularly Tom Watson's writings in the Jeffersonian, spewed anti-semitic hatred toward Frank - and lied about evidence. The person who was appointed to investigate his lynching was one of the organizers of the lynch mob. Try as the poster of this garbage may, he cannot re-write history and whitewash Tom Watson's (and others') bigotry.

Subject: Bigotry begets bigotry II
"A perspective by someone who wan't blackmailed by the jews?" Or an anti-semitic, bigoted perspective that ignored evidence here, manufactured some evidence there? And thrived on the kind of hatred the previous reviewer exhibits. And, I remind you, Watson endorsed lynching (and the KKK). Again, I invite any reader to look up the writings of Tom Watson, the source of this junk analysis and judge for yourself if he was a hate-filled bigot out to persecute Leo Frank. He apparently appeals to bigots of multiple centuries.

Subject: A perspective from someone who isn't blackmailed by the Jews
I believe that the article comes off as honest and clear. Leo Frank did have a fair trial after all and tried to pin the murder he committed on someone else.

Subject: For pity's sake, Watson was a liar and a bigot
Who is this guy and why is he championing the likes of Tom Watson? Why doesn't he just once address the fact that Watson was a lying bigot, and there are plenty of examples of his racist, KKK-supporting, anti-semitic, anti-Catholic, lynching-provoking writings anyone could look up. Watson spent unusual enrgy first assuring that Frank was prosecuted - despite the fact that another man admitted to the murder - and then, once Franks's death sentence was commuted, incited the lynching. You really have to wonder what's motivating the guy who posts all these comments about how smart and wonderful Watson was.

Subject: For pity's sake, Tom Watson was a paranoid, KKK-loving bigot!
Folks, please look up Tom Watson, the source of all this nonsense. A southern populist politician, he used bigotry and hatred in his writings. When Frank's sentence was commuted - because it looked like the witness who testified against him might actually be the killer - Watson went on a rampage, giving hate-filled speeches, saying that lynching Frank would be "God;s work". I mean, look at some of the titles of the referenced articles: "The Jew Pervert", and ""Rich Jews Indict a State", all published by his own publishing company. Just do a search for Tom Watson and the Catholic church, and you'll find hateful speeches about Catholics and the Pope, too. And look up his writings where he called for a resurgence of the KKK! And reviewers here and elsewhere - given the barrier of 100 years - casually claim that this bigot is thoughtful analyst. He was not. He was a bigot, who called for and celebrated the lynching of Frank --- and others!

Subject: dynamite and gasoline for the prosecution
move over sherlock holmes, watson solves the mary phagan murder with intensity and verve. watons collective writings on the leo m. frank çase are logically reasoned and filled with an energetic sarcasm and wit. If not for some of the antisemitic language contained in his aggregate writings on the subject of leo m. frank, he would undeniably deserve five out of five stars, building a solid convincing case for the prosecution.
