Subject: Amazing Show!
* my rating is based on the memory of the show, not the recordings.

I went to Rutgers from 1992-1997. I found out about this show from a friend of a friend - I think Chocolate and Cheese had just recently been released, and I am not sure exactly how they got booked for this show which was in a large common room of the dorm. It was acoustic, Dean and Gene were barefoot, and the audience were sitting of the floor. The vibe was mellow, and the show was fantastic. Ween played all over New Brunswick, including this crappy hole-in the wall bookstore around the corner from Cheap Thrills, the Court Tavern, and more. I look forward to hearing these. Does anyone here have info on who recorded these?

Fucking amazing show. Freedom of '76 is about as good as it gets

First, a correction: Demarest Dorm is part of the main campus at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ.

This event was held in the common area in the lower level of the dorm. It is a large room longer than it is wide. The band was set up facing the shorter width of the room. My recollection is that the band wore matching suits, but was barefoot. Attendees were seated on the tile floor in front of the band. There were probably only about 60 or so in attendance.

In those days, Ween frequently played in New Brunswick, including a tiny bookstore on a side street barely large enough for 20 people inside, and fully electric taboot!!! Those were the days.

This show was a special event for a very small group, who knew somebody was taping? Check it out. You won't be disappointed.

Subject: awesome sound goin down
This largely acoustic show is a cross section of Ween's talent musically and their ability to captivate an audience. The response of the concert goers is also a testament to their fiercely loyal following. Songs like Flutes of the Chi and the Blarney Stone gave this lucky group of listeners a taste of what was to come from this unpredictable band. Voodoo Lady as an acoustic number is one of the greatest stripped down songs I've ever heard.

Subject: Great show, could be a five
This show kicks ass. For one, they start out playing KoKo, which is not something you see on a lot of Ween setlists. Secondly, the whole show has a very chill feel to it. They play almost everything very mellow like, a lot of acoustic stuff. They say that they just recently saw Willie Nelson live, and that "this" is the result of that. Even the audience is very mellow, no screams, not many requests shouted out...you can actually hear the audience laugh at the lyrics a few times...I imagine this must be a pretty small club. I'd give the show a five, but the sound isn't the best I've ever heard. I'd give the sound a 3.4, 4 tops. Geaners voice is a little off this night on some of the high notes, but the feel of the show is so cool that it doesn't even matter. The band is having fun, and you can tell teh audience is too...anyways, I'm ramblin. Be Brown.
