Formidable, mind-numbing electronic music and mountains of wreckage bestow What's the Big Hurry? with the distinction of being one of Sid Davis' most macabre films. As the operators of an automotive recycling and dismantling yard prepare scores of mangled vehicles for processing, closeup camera shots coupled with voiceovers from various individuals who have perished in accidents with the aforementioned vehicles starkly reveal the follies of reckless driving induced by, among other factors, hastiness, peer pressure, and personal angst. Through this unique, memorable approach, Davis effectively imparts to viewers the importance of maintaining a tranquil mind when getting behind the steering column. A true classic of the driving safety genre.

Subject: "That Robert Redford is so cute!"
Very bizarre film, probably THE most bizarre film El Sid ever made, that features demolished cars, and voiceovers of the 'people' that caused them to get demolished. There's some great shots of late 60's (albeit banged up) cars, and some far out fashions (love the fedora). But what REALLY sets this film out is it's soundrack which is sort of the electronica gone haywire, nothing which I've heard in a SD film before. Some of the music is quite jarring, and some quite ridiculous.

Subject: If these cars could talk...
Another journey into the frightening world of Sid Davis. The film is a just a bunch of footage taken at a junk yard. As the shots linger on the destroyed cars, we hear ominous dialogue... the last things the drivers said.

Not too much visually, the film's creepy, dissonant electronic score is excellent, and really adds to the film.

Be sure to listen to the car crashes; they all use the same SFX over and over. I think I first heard it in the song Transfusion Confusion.
