A biography about my fourth great-grandfather, William Bloom one of the earliest pioneer settlers of Clearfield county, Pennsylvania whose posterity numbers in the tens of thousands.
William was born 26 February 1752/53 marrying Mary Ann Mettler on 2 April 1778 in Mt. Pleasant, Alexandria Township, Hunterdon, NJ. He died 4 May 1828 in Pike Township, Clearfield County, PA. They were the parents of 11 children, all lived to become adults and dying at the average age of 78 years.
The document includes a bibliography, headstone photos and an examination of many factual claims, that may be erroneous, including information about William's Revolutionary War service.
May be copied and freely distributed but only in it's entirety.
To ensure accurate information is disseminated, earlier versions of this biography should be destroyed.
Dated January 2020, this is Revision #5 - 30 pages.
PLEASE NOTE:
A lot of details regarding William's life have been passed down from generation to generation throughout the years. Recently however what was once widely accepted as fact by family historians is now considered "family tradition."
With the April 2016 publication of the LeRoy Bloom book "A Bloom By Any Name ..." much of what was once believed to be fact was called into question. These things, needing to be considered, required a new version of this biography (revision #5), now written with this additional information in mind.
With more than 1,600 individual Bloom's listed, the Bloom family and other Clearfield County, PA area descendants can find a lot of genealogical information about their families at this websitel
