better days
I love this so much. It is everything good about the "good old days" - when young people aspired to be authors and spoke eloquently and had manners. Call it sappy if you must, I call it better days in which we didn't need to see shows about homicide autopsies and serial killers to be entertained. 5 stars, Robert Young, 5 stars.

A lovely window
I enjoyed it. Yes, it was sentimental and lacking in reality but it was something is missing in Television today. I think the last show that touched the heart was Highway to Heaven.

Sentimental
I'm old enough to remember watching this on prime time in 1961. Robert Young (or at least his screen persona) was a gentle soul and a comforting presence. This episode is a bit depressing, though. Especially that scene where he is in his old classroom, now torn up and visited by the ghost of his former teacher. I can see why this lasted only one season. I give it 4 stars for picture quality and a rare glimpse into a lost era.
