The arenas compose a Player-versus-player(PvP) system implemented into World of Warcraft years after it was first released. This system offers a more competitive and rank-based experience with the sole objective of having a pre-organized team of 2, 3, or 5 players fight against others until everyone on a team is defeated. Teams have a rating that changes based on wins and losses. This rating is also used to automatically choose teams of similar strength to pit against each other. This system, which becomes available once a player reaches the highest level in The Burning Crusade expansion, 70, and is meant to be a more competative option than the Battlegrounds.
This footage was captured as part of the Preserving Virtual Worlds project by the How They Got Game group at Stanford University.
In this match, our 3v3 team Grassburners, composed of a Warlock, Shaman, and Shadowpriest, are pitted again a Warrior, Hunter, and Rogue in the Nagrand Arena.
