Bertha Lee w. Charley PattonBertha Lee w. Charley Patton-Yellow Bee (January 31, 1934)

Recorded on January 31, 1934 in New York City. This tune was originally made popular by Memphis Minnie. The tune is clearly sexual in nature, and from Patton's asides during the tune, it appears that Patton is certainly enjoying Lee's come on. It is thought that Patton and Lee recorded several other tunes during this last recording session. See the notes to "Mind Reader Blues." However, if they did, they are lost and haven't been heard...by anyone still alive that is. Perhaps there are still copies in someone's attic.
