acp029 koen park - pastoral pioneer

Koen Park is the work of Ian D Hawgood. Working between his small apartment in
Tokyo and his mum's garage in south London, he makes washed out electro-hip-hop
-pop-folk-shoegaze music. Pastoral Pioneer was made with circuit bent casios,
drums, piano, field recordings, melodica, harmonium, warbly old tape recorders
and musical smarts. The results are both unique and wonderful.

Subject: bad ass smart deep unique grrrrr
this dude is one talented SOB. its a haunting minimal beaty toned and uplifting piece of work. as a whole package it really works, the artwork, title and song names are so deep and beautiful, then the music just feels like happy alone walks in the country. the way koen uses samples is inspired...oh, and the piano pieces just stop you in your tracks and make you go 'wow'. not as broody as gray night clouds, not as pop as nowhere home, its still his best album bar everything in shadow. oh, and i am now downloading all the acroplane stuff - nice sound samples on myspace!
