Typical war propaganda
It has it's merits and for its purpose i suppose it did it's job, but the story line was weak and propaganda value negligible compared to others of its day.
In todays wars it would rate up with toilet paper commercials if that.
WWII was no better time to be alive than any other time in history, but far to many people died for really lousy reasons. Now small minded so called leaders can't muster millions of young saps to go die like cannon fodder like they once could.
In that light today is a better time to be alive. Back then millions went off to die not even knowing the true reasons...only what they were lead to believe by governments around the world for good or not. They got extremely limited reasons for war and had absolutely no voice in how the world operated. This film was a prime example of misinformation and propaganda.

Robert Mitchum
Did everyone not notice Robert Mitchum?
He's the staff sergeant in the scene
where one crew is returning from their
air-to-air qualification shoot and he's
trying to get the other crew to leave
for theirs.

I liked this film
Its always interesting to watch these old war flicks they are not even remotely like the real Military. However they are kind of fun and I'm sure were very helpful at the time they were made. My Dad fought in WWII and he said for the most part women at the time didn't want to get involved with service men. The chances were too good of your man coming home in a box if at all. But after the war things were quite different. Although jobs were scarce people worshiped the ground they walked on. It was quite a time to be alive!

Not A Bad Low Budget War Film
The characters are realistic and likeable, even if a little stereotypical. The storyline is interesting, as are the training routines and brief stints of combat action. The idealism of the picture is balanced with a dash of tragedy. There have been more exciting films, but if you like military training and war movies, this is not bad.
