fame and have a cigar are nicely done. A little imbalance on the bass on a few songs though

Subject: Recording explained
This room is *tiny*. Most of the sound is coming from the instruments on stage and not from the house sound system. This recording is only of what is coming through the soundboard - we didn't have any mics on this tour. That's why our soundboards have very odd levels. Unfortunately, we never got a matrix setup (we always envied the one Umphrey's had [and recorded the shows that we played with them with]).

As for the effects, our sound engineer, Steve Sockol, is currently on tour with Matisyahu. Now he really gets to go crazy with the delay.

Subject: Good show, but not perfect
I agree with the other reviewers, there is something going on with this recording. I don't know much about the process, but it seems like the effects were processed through the board (ie: vocal effects like reverb) and they come through on the tape. Oh yeah, and the kick drum is too loud and overpowering.

On a good note, it's still a cool show and the effects do not occur constantly, in fact, they're fairly infrequent, but still annoying. In my opinion, still worth the d/l. Thanks, Chris & Steve!

Subject: Decent Recording
The recording quality is good, however, it's mixed strangely at times. The guy recording overlays a lot of reverb/echo/pan effects at times. I don't know if that was for fun or just an attempt to make the live recording sound studio-ish. Anyway, it takes away from the actual performance, and I would recommend certian effects be used very sparingly if at all when editing a live show.

Subject: set
the band is tight but this recording is not. the kick bass is over bearing. it's so loud it drowns out everything.

Wow! This show really stands out compared to most of their recordings. Definately worth the download.

Tour Journal

Our second time in Columbia proved to be pretty rocking despite being a Monday night. Last time we were here, we heard "Hit It And Quit It" on the jukebox which inspired us to cover it on NYE. We played it here in honor of that. The crowd was buzzing about wanting to hear "Have A Cigar," so we played it for them. The show ended up clocking well over three hours to our surprise.
