This cylinder recording was made by one of the few American tenors to make an international reputation in the early 20th century. He sang at the Metropolitan and was a friend of Enrico Caruso, who also gave him some lessons in the early part of his career. In later years Martin taught at Julliard in New York.

A pretty good recording of this tenor. The song is remarkably very clear, and the singer is in fine form.
