Phil Johnson, M.D. discusses sharing of needles by injection drug users, which is one of the most common ways that HIV is transmitted. Cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine are all examples of drugs that are sometimes injected. Needle exchange programs are one way to reduce the risk that HIV will be transmitted among injection drug users.
