im sorry but this show has awesome parts.

On a number of occasions, I have given this show to friends who ask for, say, a CD to listen to on a car ride. I always get a call about 20 minutes later that is something the effect of, "who is this?! i need more!" even my mom has a copy of this show; she get's dooown to Boogie Oogie Oogie. this show is a classic where I'm from, and it spreads like a funky loving infection. If I have any bit of advice, if your looking for a show, get down with your inner animal, and get this one. i've yet to meet a person who doesn't love it.

this was my first show i have listened to of aol. i was reccommended to download it from a couple of friends whom i respect their musical opinions. i have to say i was pretty disappointed in their style. it is very "phishy" at times and when their own sound comes out, it just does not do it. i dont know how there is high energy in the venues they play in w/such a slow pace of music being played for the most part. maybe my expectations were too high, but they did not meet them. i wish i could say the opposite.

Stumbled upon these guys tonight and I am utterly blown away. One of, if not THE best sound qualities I have found on here. Couple that with the musical landscape these guys paint, and wallah...sign me up!

This is the best show from these guys I have heard. In sound quality and in the playing, I have not heard or seen better from these guys. Steve and Dave seem to be more telepathic than usual. The dude from Particle seems to be tripping his balls off, but still gets some swells and loops happening that the band feeds off. There really is no stopping ALO. I expect them to take over the world any day now. Highlights? For me it would have been the funky version of "they love each other". But most of this show is filled with the best versions of their original stuff I have heard/seen/downloaded. Good job ALO!

amazing, truly amazing. of all the new year runs i have dl over the past few weeks sts9 and alo are without doubt the best and this show inparticular blows me away. "it is huge" the playing is fantastic and the quality of the taping matches it. thanks to the band for being taper friendly and thanks to tyler and irie for sharing. now that alo have started to get a bit more atention and are now on jack johnson's label it will be interesting to see where they go this year. good luck to them and lets keep it groovy and funky

as an AVID ALO listener/show attendor/enthusiast i must say that this is the BEST recording of an ALO show that has ever existed (written jan '06). it obviously doesn't fully capture the magic of the live moment but it comes damn close - endless thanks to tyler/pete et al for preserving this in such fine form and even more thanks to ALO for stepping it up to unforeseen levels - this show is as good as it gets, superlatives don't do it justice... where do they go from here?

this show was 5 star before it went down, given the energy everyone put into it, from the recording to the production to everybody's participation. the result is a glorious capture of the room, which was really, a tent. the show does have it's non 5 star moments (beg of disc 3), but shines otherwise. the playing is amazing. frankenstein jam? sickle. great bookends for 2005, from silk sensuous to the divine. what a great year, liberators!

Fun exploratory show, with the emphasis on fun. At times the instrumental aspect of this band sounds a lot like Phish, especially the elec. guitar jammin, which ain't a bad ting. Lots of good juice here for the squeezin, esp. set III. TLEO>Jericho one of many highlights. Sound is 5 star at times, and less at other times. In spots it sounds like someone is nacho monkeying w/ the levels. Keeps you on your toes. Thank you kindly for posting. Been enjoyin this one for days.

Such a great recording for a great band, excellent depth and really gives a sense of space when listen on even basic speakers.

How many NYE countdowns can one have? :)

Subject: Divine Ball - Great followup to Silky Sensuous
There's a new recording that is "The ALO" show to get, and this is it. Whooo hooo! It sounds so good - surpassing the previous fav from the Silky Sensuous Ball in Feb 2005. I can't wait to hear this one on a really good sound system. I bet it sounds like they're playing live. Highlights include "Country Camper", Chilly Chile, the segue from "Busy Kililng Time into Time is of the Essence", and Steve Molitz and Zach Gill sharing the same keyboard rig with Molitz playing upside down while standing on opposite side from Zach's bench (during Root Down - pretty sure he was up there for more than just Sneakin a Peek). Pretty much everthing else I didn't mention is also a hightlight in some way, shape, or form. The "Dance of the Deities" pre New Year's theatrics makes for a psychedelic listen. Kudos to everyone involved in making this show available.

As always, ALO brought the heat, but this time over 4 sets!! There were sure some strong psychadelic vibrations in the air, just listen to that stellar GARDENER!! That sums up the entire 3 days Santa Barbara New Years run....

I've got video of the whole thing too, which we're putting together for the love of the music.

For the record, I proposed to my girlfriend of over 5 years, Christine, during Loving Cup, with Mike Summers and everyone else going off with the song. We were both feeling the love around us at this moment, big-time.

Thanks ALO and friends for a night we won't ever forget.

Chris aka "Stubbler"

p.s. - Well, I didn't really 'propose', I just said "I want to marry you."

Nice. This show is one for the ALO history books. It's going to be hard to top this, but there is no doubt in my mind that they will soon.

One of the best recordings I have heard! Four Sets. Hours of Live ALO. Man did we miss out! If you weren't there or haven't heard this set yet, do so in the near future. The clarity of the recording invites one to a hazy atmosphere of great music and friends. Thank you to those who captured this nite!

This show has it all. The recording is solid and the setlist is out of control. The energy was fantastic as ALO played their hearts out - rocking 'til close to 6 am. This is a must listen for any ALO fan or anyone interested in ALO. A terrific show to cap off ALO's first three night run in Santa Barbara.

** w/ the ALOettes (Jenna Lebowitz and Amy Windecker on vocals; first time played)
*** Includes two verses of "Back in Time" by Huey Lewis
