Subject: pleasant surprise
Wow, used to listen to these guys in IV. They were a fun college band then but now they are really tight and vastly improved. This show is one of the best I have heard. Good Job!

Subject: Pedal Steel??? Greencat21
Greencat21,

It's not a pedal steel... it's a slide guitar you butt knob!

Subject: Pretty Good...
You know, I see this band's appeal, but to tell you the truth, they sound like a good college band, not much more.

The Help on the Way/Franklins is competent, but definitely not transcending anything and the vocals/ pedal steel/flute on Wasting Time are downright weak...

They seem like alright dudes though, I'll give 'em that.

Subject: ALO do it again
As legendary as the NYE show from last year rightfully is, I've always preferred the 2005.12.29 SoHo show. And from the first listens to this years gig shows me this band is only getting better as the years pass. This is now my favourite New Year's tradition. A must have for any ALO lover, and the type of concert that you need to put on CD and gift to your most musically appreciative friends. The new songs rock and their sound just keeps expanding.

Not to mention the fact that the matrix sounds great. Good mix of instruments, vocals and audience. Huge thanks to the tapers for that!! ALO has some of the consistently best sounding pulls available and the fan base only reaps these joyous rewards.

I love these guys. Get this show!!!!

Subject: Welcome to ALO Paradise
ALO is in that coveted phase where just about every show is better than the last. On December 29th the band took yet another quantum leap with their sound. They've tapped into an evolved tonal approach while taking more improvisational risks. The spectrum of nuances offers a unique and enlightening experience with each listen.
The first set starts out real mellow before instantaneously combusting with a saucy "#2."Â James Brown was in the house during the rambunctious "Soul Power"Â tribute. Crank it up for an instant dance party in your living room.
The whole show is fantastic but its legacy will always be the breathtaking third set opener, "ÂHelp on the Way>Slipknot!>Franklin's Tower." The quartet ascended into the ethers as they dropped the biggest bomb of their career. Blow your mind with some headphones. The two new songs that follow, "ÂAll Alone" and "ÂLady Loop,"Â are instant classics.
A lot of love went into this recording and the whole post-production process. If you like it, please email the link to your friends.
