Definitely worth watching. Exciting and funny. Admittedly this idea has been seen before, but that can be said about most other films, too.

Just a general comment, you have the trailer, blonde pickup but not the film. Have you consider adding it to your rostum of films?

Subject: Top of the list.
This film is at the top of my list of movies to watch again. That is my highest compliment - to want to watch a movie more than once.

We are not movies experts but thought that this grand old movie was excellent, most enjoyable and entertaining. There have been several modern rehashes of this same theme, as you have said, but we don't think any have been better. Paul and Muni and Anne Baxter both were great in this film. We really enjoyed it, think you will too. rgds

Subject: There now, that wasn't so goood, was it?
An interesting idea poorly executed, this film is not much of anything. It's not funny, it's not romantic, it's not action packed, it's not even coherent. Most of all, it's not entertaining. Muni was never worse, Baxter was never given a more tedious role and Rains was never so wasted. A major disappointment.

Subject: Disappointing
This is no classic despite three good actors. It starts promisingly and looks as if it's set to become a tale of Muni's redemption and fight against corruption, but it becomes more interested in the mushy relationship with Anne Baxter (here wasted). One gets the feeling the preview didn't go well and the writers were asked to add more romance. The Hay's code prevents Muni's character from even getting decent revenge. Muni's conversion to good guy is unconvincing - and undesirable! That said, Claude Rains has a few good bits as does Muni.
Try "A Matter of Life and Death" or "Heaven Can Wait" (Lubitsch) for far superior treatments of the afterlife.

Paul Muni was one of the great character actors of Hollywood during the '40s. He shows that versatility in wrestling with the devil (Claude Rains)to overcome evil:one of Hollywood's themes of social propoganda at the time. The movie is well done, cute, and worthy of a look.
