For better or for worse, Bardesanes Records is finally releasing "The Faults That Lie Within the Curmudgeon Retirement Home" by Pompous Logic. The album could not be more aptly titled because the Curmudgeon Retirement Home was the shabby home studio it was recorded in. Further adding to that, to make room on the 20GB hard disk, it was copied to CD which the CD-ROM drive was later found to be faulty. So, why release it? It documents some of the electronic experiments of Graham Hill as he tries to make the PC as a tool for composition. However, where as most take the old straight and narrow, this composer was too uninformed to know there was a path at all. What the listener is to hear is Graham Hill battering through one song after another using free MIDI programs, free editing programs, a few poorly made samples, and a few odd music programs that should have been left undownloaded. Take it for what it is and try to find the beauty behind all the digital scars and wrinkles.
