Jerry Brown. Keene continues with health issues including medical malpractice, merits of the Right to Die Act and mental health, the debate over the Eel River dam, low-flush toilet bill, oil embargo and the energy crisis, Jerry's Brown's administration, Rose Bird, George Deukmejian, forestry bills, and campaigning for Michael Dukakis in 1988

Barry Dion Keene was born July 30, 1938 in New Jersey. He spent his childhood in New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Chicago, and attended the University of Chicago from 1956-1959. He received his B.A. (1960) and J.S. (1964) from Stanford University. Keene served as a legislative intern in the California State Assembly (1963-1965) then on the staff of the Constitution Revision Commission (1965-1967). He practiced law in Santa Rosa where he also worked for the district attorney's office and was elected to the Rincon Valley School Board (1968-1972). Keene chaired the Committee on Health in the California State Assembly and was a member of the California State Senate, chairing the Judiciary Committee and later serving as Senate majority leader. Since 1974, Keene has been a full-time lecturer at Cal State University, Sacramento
