Subject: my only Beirut show.

This was at the communication building on the University of Texas campus. It says KLRU studios which is correct. However, you also may know it as the Austin City Limits Stage. (Yes, the venue where they show the TV show.) I noticed that this was a recording of a stream from KEXP (seattle.)

Nice job. Might as well call it a soundboard.

Subject: Excellent Quality and great show, but....

the quality of this recording is wonderful, however the track listing info is way off. it should look like this:

1. The Penalty
2. Carousels
3. After The Curtain
4. Le Moribond
5. Elephant Gun
6. A Sunday Smile
7. Untitled
8. Mount Wroclai (Idle Days)
9. Gulag Orkestar
10. Postcards from Italy
11. Brazil
12. Scenic World
13. The Canals of our City

all in all, this is an excellent show that any Beirut fan should check out.

Subject: Really cool new sound!

I had never heard of this band before, but picked it up from a 'recent review' highlight on the front page of the Live Music Archive. Very cool sound. Violin, Ukealeli, guitar, drums, horns (trumpet?), just a really cool eclectic sound. A little 'andrew-bird-esque' but really a cool sound. A little like gypsy / middle eastern folk music. Cool sound, i'm definitely going to listen more to them. Plus the recording quality is really high.

Subject: A great concert

This is the archive concert that first exposed me to Beirut. The recording quality is crystal-clear; the performances are enthusiastic; the vocals are strong; the between-song banter is charming; the musicianship is excellent. Of course it's not as polished as Beirut's studio tracks are--and it shouldn't be. It captures an up-and-coming band at its happy/sad, minor-key best. Enjoy!
